Licensed Architect – Adaptive Reuse Focus

We are seeking a talented Licensed Architect with a passion for historic renovations and adaptive reuse to join our collaborative, forward-thinking team.

Position Summary: As a key member of our design studio, you’ll lead and contribute to projects that range from building restorations to the innovative reuse of existing structures. You will work closely with clients, consultants, and oversite authorities to ensure that each project meets high standards of design integrity, technical excellence, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead design for historic preservation and adaptive reuse projects.
  • Conduct architectural assessments, including research and site facility evaluations.
  • Prepare documentation for historic local review boards, plan reviewers, preservation programs, and various review entities.
  • Coordinate with consultants, engineers, contractors, and preservation agencies.
  • Manage construction documents and oversee construction administration as required on a project-by-project basis.

Qualifications:

  • Professional degree in Architecture (Required).
  • Architectural licensure (Required).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, with a strong background in historic preservation and adaptive reuse renovations.
  • Familiarity with historic materials, conservation techniques, and regulatory processes.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management and client communication skills.
  • A passion for architecture, and a sensitivity to place, context, and community.

Construction - Lead Carpenter (On-Site)

This role will work directly under the Project Manager and be responsible for field carpentry, labor management, materials, equipment, and subcontractor coordination on the job site. This role requires a proactive individual with strong leadership and communication skills. Previous experience in historical building renovations is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage daily carpentry activities on the construction site, including overseeing the work of other carpenters and laborers.
  • Ensure project stays within budget; address issues such as missing items, material shortages, or discrepancies in plans or sub-contractor agreements.
  • Confirm all materials delivered to the site and notify the office of any missing or incorrect items.
  • Ensure all workers are equipped with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Assign labor efficiently for all job activities and adjust workflows as conditions change.
  • Supervise sub-contractors, ensuring they follow safety guidelines and perform required activities safely.
  • Communicate effectively with project teams and clients on-site, ensuring that expectations for daily work are clear and met.
  • Track project milestones and report progress daily, including labor hours by activity.
  • Report any change orders to the Project Manager and Office Coordinator; proceed only after receiving authorization.
  • Perform carpentry duties and any other tasks required by the Carpenter or Laborer job descriptions.

Qualifications:

Experience: 10+ years of carpentry experience, preferably with a focus on historical building renovations.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Licenses/Certifications: Driver’s License (Required), OSHA 10 Card (Preferred).

Skills:

  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with crews, clients, and the project manager.
  • Ability to receive and manage PDF documents via a personal phone.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proven ability to supervise and lead a team in the field.
  • Ability to anticipate issues and act proactively to maintain project efficiency.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
